Sermon recorded on the Sunday prior to Lent \u2013 2\/3\/25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/embed\/020325_202503\" width=\"500\" height=\"60\" frameborder=\"0\" webkitallowfullscreen=\"true\" mozallowfullscreen=\"true\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>Right click&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/archive.org\/download\/020325_202503\/020325.mp3\"><strong>HERE!<\/strong><\/a> to download<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sermon starts at 2:41<\/p>\n\n\n\n<font color=\"red\">Luke 9 v 28-36 [37-43a]<\/font>\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>28<\/b><\/font>\n &#8230; Jesus&#8230; took Peter, John and James with him and went up onto a\nmountain to pray. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>29<\/b><\/font> As he was praying, the appearance of his face changed,\nand his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>30<\/b><\/font> Two men, Moses\nand Elijah, appeared in glorious splendour, talking with Jesus. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>31<\/b><\/font> They spoke\nabout his departure, which he was about to bring to fulfilment at\nJerusalem. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>32<\/b><\/font> Peter and his companions were very sleepy, but when they\nbecame fully awake, they saw his glory and the two men standing with\nhim. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>33<\/b><\/font> As the men were leaving Jesus, Peter said to him, \u201cMaster, it is good for\nus to be here. Let us put up three shelters\u2014one for you, one for Moses and\none for Elijah.\u201d (He did not know what he was saying.)\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>34<\/b><\/font>\n While he was speaking, a cloud appeared and covered them, and they were\nafraid as they entered the cloud. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>35<\/b><\/font> A voice came from the cloud, saying, \u201cThis\nis my Son, whom I have chosen; listen to him.\u201d \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>36<\/b><\/font> When the voice had spoken,\nthey found that Jesus was alone. The disciples kept this to themselves and did\nnot tell anyone at that time what they had seen.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>37<\/b><\/font>\n The next day, when they came down from the mountain, a large crowd met\nhim. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>38<\/b><\/font> A man in the crowd called out, \u201cTeacher, I beg you to look at my son,\nfor he is my only child. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>39<\/b><\/font> A spirit seizes him and he suddenly screams; it\nthrows him into convulsions so that he foams at the mouth. It scarcely ever\n\nleaves him and is destroying him. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>40<\/b><\/font> I begged your disciples to drive it out, but\nthey could not.\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>41<\/b><\/font>\n \u201cYou unbelieving and perverse generation,\u201d Jesus replied, \u201chow long shall I\nstay with you and put up with you? Bring your son here.\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>42<\/b><\/font>\n Even while the boy was coming, the demon threw him to the ground in a\nconvulsion. But Jesus rebuked the impure spirit, healed the boy and gave him\nback to his father. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>43<\/b><\/font> And they were all amazed at the greatness of God.\n\n<br><br>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today\u2019s sermon was given by visiting preacher Rev Cathy Pullinger who was one time vicar at our Church.
