Given by our reader Richard Palmer on the 29\/6\/25 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/embed\/290625\" width=\"500\" height=\"60\" frameborder=\"0\" webkitallowfullscreen=\"true\" mozallowfullscreen=\"true\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>Download Mp3\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/archive.org\/download\/290625\/290625.mp3\">HERE!<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sermon starts at 1:46<\/p>\n\n\n\n<font color=\"red\">Luke 9 v 51-62\n<br><br>\nSamaritan Opposition<\/font>\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>51<\/b><\/font>\n As the time approached for him to be taken up to heaven, Jesus resolutely\nset out for Jerusalem. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>52<\/b><\/font> And he sent messengers on ahead, who went into a\nSamaritan village to get things ready for him; \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>53<\/b><\/font> but the people there did not\nwelcome him because he was heading for Jerusalem. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>54<\/b><\/font> When the disciples,\nJames and John, saw this, they asked, \u201cLord, do you want us to call fire down\nfrom heaven to destroy them?\u201d \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>55<\/b><\/font> But Jesus turned and rebuked them. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>56<\/b><\/font> and\nthey went to another village.\n<br><br><br>\n\n\n<font color=\"red\">The cost of following Jesus<\/font>\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>57<\/b><\/font>\n As they were walking along the road, a man said to him, \u201cI will follow you\nwherever you go.\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>58<\/b><\/font>\n Jesus replied, \u201cFoxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the\nSon of Man has no place to lay his head.\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>59<\/b><\/font>\n He said to another man, \u201dFollow me.\u201d But the man replied, \u201cLord, first let me\ngo and bury my father.\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>60<\/b><\/font>\n Jesus said to him, \u201dLet the dead bury their own dead, but you go and\nproclaim the kingdom of God.\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>61<\/b><\/font>\n Still another said, \u201cI will follow you, Lord, but first let me go back and say\ngoodbye to my family.\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>62<\/b><\/font>\n Jesus replied, \u201cNo one who puts his hand to the plough and looks back is fit\nfor service in the kingdom of God.\u201d\n<br><br>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sermon from St Andrews Church, Slip End, UK.
