Given by our one time vicar Rev Joy Daniel on the third Sunday of Easter on 19\/4\/26<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/embed\/190426_202604\" width=\"500\" height=\"30\" frameborder=\"0\" webkitallowfullscreen=\"true\" mozallowfullscreen=\"true\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>Download Mp3&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/archive.org\/download\/190426_202604\/190426.mp3\">HERE!<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sermon starts at 5:02<\/p>\n\n\n\n<font color=\"red\">Acts 2 v 14, 36-41<\/font>\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>14<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: \u2018Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say.&nbsp;\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>36<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;\u2018Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.\u2019\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>37<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, \u2018Brothers, what shall we do?\u2019\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>38<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;Peter replied, \u2018Repent and be baptised, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.&nbsp;\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>39<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off&nbsp;\u2013 for all whom the Lord our God will call.\u2019\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>40<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, \u2018Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.\u2019&nbsp;\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>41<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;Those who accepted his message were baptised, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.\n<br><br><br>\n\n<font color=\"red\">Luke 24 v 13-35\n<br><br>\nOn the Road to Emmaus<\/font>\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>13<\/b><\/font> Now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>14<\/b><\/font> They were talking with each other about everything that had happened. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>15<\/b><\/font> As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them; \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>16<\/b><\/font> but they were kept from recognizing him.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>17<\/b><\/font> He asked them, \u201cWhat are you discussing together as you walk along?\u201d\n<br><br>\nThey stood still, their faces downcast. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>18<\/b><\/font> One of them, named Cleopas, asked him, \u201cAre you the only one visiting Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>19<\/b><\/font> \u201cWhat things?\u201d he asked.\n<br><br>\n\u201cAbout Jesus of Nazareth,\u201d they replied. \u201cHe was a prophet, powerful in word and deed before God and all the people. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>20<\/b><\/font> The chief priests and our rulers handed him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified him; \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>21<\/b><\/font> but we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel. And what is more, it is the third day since all this took place. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>22<\/b><\/font> In addition, some of our women amazed us. They went to the tomb early this morning \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>23<\/b><\/font> but didn\u2019t find his body. They came and told us that they had seen a vision of angels, who said he was alive. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>24<\/b><\/font> Then some of our companions went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but they did not see Jesus.\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>25<\/b><\/font> He said to them, \u201cHow foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken! \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>26<\/b><\/font> Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?\u201d \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>27<\/b><\/font> And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>28<\/b><\/font> As they approached the village to which they were going, Jesus continued on as if he were going farther. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>29<\/b><\/font> But they urged him strongly, \u201cStay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over.\u201d So he went in to stay with them.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>30<\/b><\/font> When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>31<\/b><\/font> Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>32<\/b><\/font> They asked each other, \u201cWere not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>33<\/b><\/font> They got up and returned at once to Jerusalem. There they found the Eleven and those with them, assembled together \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>34<\/b><\/font> and saying, \u201cIt is true! The Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon.\u201d \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>35<\/b><\/font> Then the two told what had happened on the way, and how Jesus was recognized by them when he broke the bread.\n<br><br>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sermon from St Andrews Church, Slip End, UK.
