Rejoice and exult with all your heart,\nO daughter Jerusalem! \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>15<\/b><\/font> The Lord has taken away the judgments against you, he\nhas turned away your enemies. The king of Israel, the Lord, is in your midst; you\nshall fear disaster no more. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>16<\/b><\/font> On that day it shall be said to Jerusalem: Do not fear,\nO Zion; do not let your hands grow weak.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>17<\/b><\/font> The Lord, your God, is in your midst, a warrior who gives victory; he will rejoice\nover you with gladness, he will renew you in his love; he will exult over you with loud\nsinging \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>18<\/b><\/font> as on a day of festival. I will remove disaster from you, so that you will not\nbear reproach for it. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>19<\/b><\/font> I will deal with all your oppressors at that time. And I will save\nthe lame and gather the outcast, and I will change their shame into praise and\nrenown in all the earth. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>20<\/b><\/font> At that time I will bring you home, at the time when I gather\nyou; for I will make you renowned and praised among all the peoples of the earth,\nwhen I restore your fortunes before your eyes, says the Lord.\n<br><br><br>\n\n<font color=\"red\">Luke 24.36-48<\/font>\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>36<\/b><\/font> While they were talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, \u201cPeace be with you.\u201d \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>37<\/b><\/font> They were startled and terrified, and thought that they were seeing a ghost. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>38<\/b><\/font> He said to them, \u201cWhy are you frightened, and why do doubts arise in your hearts? \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>39<\/b><\/font> Look at my hands and my feet; see that it is I myself. Touch me and see; for a ghost does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.\u201d \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>40<\/b><\/font> And when he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>41<\/b><\/font> While in their joy they were disbelieving and still wondering, he said to them, \u201cHave you anything here to eat?\u201d \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>42<\/b><\/font> They gave him a piece of broiled fish, \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>43<\/b><\/font> and he took it and ate in their presence.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>44<\/b><\/font> Then he said to them, \u201cThese are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you\u2014that everything written about me in the law of Moses, the prophets, and the psalms must be fulfilled.\u201d \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>45<\/b><\/font> Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures, \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>46<\/b><\/font> and he said to them, \u201cThus it is written, that the Messiah is to suffer and to rise from the dead on the third day, \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>47<\/b><\/font> and that repentance and forgiveness of sins is to be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>48<\/b><\/font> You are witnesses of these things. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>49<\/b><\/font> And see, I am sending upon you what my Father promised; so stay here in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sermon from St Andrews Church, Slip End, UK.
