This is the first in a series with the theme of &#8216;Staying Alert To The Spirit&#8217;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/embed\/200621_202106\" width=\"500\" height=\"30\" frameborder=\"0\" webkitallowfullscreen=\"true\" mozallowfullscreen=\"true\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>Sermon starts at 3:35<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Download Mp3\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/archive.org\/download\/200621_202106\/200621.mp3\">HERE!<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<font color=\"red\">Isaiah 57:14-21<\/font>\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>14<\/b><\/font>  It shall be said, \u201cBuild up, build up, prepare the way, remove every obstruction\nfrom my people\u2019s way.\u201d \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>15<\/b><\/font>  For thus says the high and lofty one who inhabits eternity,\nwhose name is Holy: I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with those who are\ncontrite and humble in spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the\nheart of the contrite. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>16<\/b><\/font>  For I will not continually accuse, nor will I always be angry;\nfor then the spirits would grow faint before me, even the souls that I have made.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>17<\/b><\/font>  Because of their wicked covetousness I was angry; I struck them, I hid and was\nangry; but they kept turning back to their own ways.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>18<\/b><\/font>  I have seen their ways, but I\nwill heal them; I will lead them and repay them with comfort, creating for their\nmourners the fruit of the lips.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>19<\/b><\/font>  Peace, peace, to the far and the near, says the Lord;\nand I will heal them. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>20<\/b><\/font>  But the wicked are like the tossing sea that cannot keep still;\nits waters toss up mire and mud. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>21<\/b><\/font>  There is no peace, says my God, for the wicked.\n<br><br><br>\n\n<font color=\"red\">Mark 1:1-12<\/font>\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>1<\/b><\/font>  The beginning of the good news of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>2<\/b><\/font>  As it is written in\nthe prophet Isaiah, \u201cSee, I am sending my messenger ahead of you, who will\nprepare your way; \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>3<\/b><\/font>  the voice of one crying out in the wilderness: \u2018Prepare the way\nof the Lord, make his paths straight,\u2019\u201d \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>4<\/b><\/font>  John the baptizer appeared in the\nwilderness, proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>5<\/b><\/font>  And\npeople from the whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem were\ngoing out to him, and were baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their\nsins. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>6<\/b><\/font>  Now John was clothed with camel\u2019s hair, with a leather belt around his waist,\nand he ate locusts and wild honey. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>7<\/b><\/font>  He proclaimed, \u201cThe one who is more powerful\nthan I is coming after me; I am not worthy to stoop down and untie the thong of his\nsandals. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>8<\/b><\/font>  I have baptized you with water; but he will baptize you with the Holy\nSpirit.\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>9<\/b><\/font>  In those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in\nthe Jordan. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>10<\/b><\/font>  And just as he was coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens\ntorn apart and the Spirit descending like a dove on him. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>11<\/b><\/font>  And a voice came from\nheaven, \u201cYou are my Son, the Beloved; with you I am well pleased.\u201d \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>12<\/b><\/font>  And the Spirit\nimmediately drove him out into the wilderness. \n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sermon from St Andrews Church, Slip End, UK.
