This  sermon is called \u2018The Magnificat\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/embed\/150821\" webkitallowfullscreen=\"true\" mozallowfullscreen=\"true\" allowfullscreen=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"30\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>Sermon starts at 3:48<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Download Mp3&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/archive.org\/download\/150821\/150821.mp3\">HERE!<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<font color=\"red\">1 Kings 2.10-12, I Kings 3.3-14<\/font>\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>10<\/b><\/font> Then David slept with his ancestors, and was buried in the city of David. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>11<\/b><\/font> The\ntime that David reigned over Israel was forty years; he reigned seven years in\nHebron, and thirty-three years in Jerusalem. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>12<\/b><\/font> So Solomon sat on the throne of\nhis father David; and his kingdom was firmly established\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>3<\/b><\/font> Solomon loved the Lord, walking in the statutes of his father David; only, he\nsacrificed and offered incense at the high places. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>4<\/b><\/font> The king went to Gibeon to\nsacrifice there, for that was the principal high place; Solomon used to offer a\nthousand burnt offerings on that altar. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>5<\/b><\/font> At Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon\nin a dream by night; and God said, \u201cAsk what I should give you.\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>6<\/b><\/font> And Solomon said, \u201cYou have shown great and steadfast love to your servant my\nfather David, because he walked before you in faithfulness, in righteousness, and\nin uprightness of heart toward you; and you have kept for him this great and\nsteadfast love, and have given him a son to sit on his throne today. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>7<\/b><\/font> And now,\nO Lord my God, you have made your servant king in place of my father David,\nalthough I am only a little child; I do not know how to go out or come in. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>8<\/b><\/font> And your\nservant is in the midst of the people whom you have chosen, a great people, so\nnumerous they cannot be numbered or counted. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>9<\/b><\/font> Give your servant therefore an\nunderstanding mind to govern your people, able to discern between good and evil;\nfor who can govern this your great people?\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>10<\/b><\/font> It pleased the Lord that Solomon had asked this. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>11<\/b><\/font> God said to him, \u201cBecause\nyou have asked this, and have not asked for yourself long life or riches, or for the\nlife of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern what is\nright, \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>12<\/b><\/font> I now do according to your word. Indeed I give you a wise and discerning\nmind; no one like you has been before you and no one like you shall arise after\nyou. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>13<\/b><\/font> I give you also what you have not asked, both riches and honour all your\nlife; no other king shall compare with you. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>14<\/b><\/font> If you will walk in my ways, keeping\nmy statutes and my commandments, as your father David walked, then I will\nlengthen your life.\u201d\n<br><br><br>\n\n<font color=\"red\">Luke 1:46-55 (The Magnificat)<\/font>\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>46<\/b><\/font> And Mary said:\n\u201cMy soul magnifies the Lord, \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>47<\/b><\/font> and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour, \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>48<\/b><\/font> for he\nhas looked with favour on the lowliness of his servant. Surely, from now on all\ngenerations will call me blessed; \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>49<\/b><\/font> for the Mighty One has done great things for\nme, and holy is his name. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>50<\/b><\/font> His mercy is for those who fear him from generation\nto generation. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>51<\/b><\/font> He has shown strength with his arm; he has scattered the proud\nin the thoughts of their hearts.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>52<\/b><\/font> He has brought down the powerful from their thrones, and lifted up the lowly;\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>53<\/b><\/font> he has filled the hungry with good things, and sent the rich away empty.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>54<\/b><\/font> He\nhas helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy, \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>55<\/b><\/font> according to the\npromise he made to our ancestors, to Abraham and to his descendants forever.\u201d\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sermon from St Andrews Church, Slip End, UK.
