Sermon given by our Rev&#8217; Nick Mwandia on the 17\/10\/21 for our harvest festival celebration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/embed\/171021_202110\" webkitallowfullscreen=\"true\" mozallowfullscreen=\"true\" allowfullscreen=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"30\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>Sermon starts at 4:10<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Download Mp3&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/archive.org\/download\/171021_202110\/171021.mp3\">HERE!<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<font color=\"red\">Isaiah 53 v 4-12<\/font>\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>4<\/b><\/font>  Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished\nby God, stricken by him, and afflicted. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>5<\/b><\/font>  But he was pierced for our transgressions,\nhe was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him,\nand by his wounds we are healed. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>6<\/b><\/font>  We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us\nhas turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>7<\/b><\/font>  He\nwas oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a\nlamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he did not\nopen his mouth. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>8<\/b><\/font>  By oppression and judgment he was taken away. Yet who of his\ngeneration protested? For he was cut off from the land of the living; for the\ntransgression of my people he was punished.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>9<\/b><\/font>  He was assigned a grave with the\nwicked, and with the rich in his death, though he had done no violence, nor was any\ndeceit in his mouth.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>10<\/b><\/font>  Yet it was the Lord\u2019s will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and though\nthe Lord makes his life an offering for sin, he will see his offspring and prolong his\ndays, and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>11<\/b><\/font>  After he has suffered, he will\nsee the light of life and be satisfied; by his knowledge my righteous servant will\njustify many, and he will bear their iniquities. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>12<\/b><\/font>  Therefore I will give him a portion\namong the great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong, because he poured\nout his life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For he bore the\nsin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.\n<br><br><br>\n\n<font color=\"red\">Hebrews 5 v 1-10<\/font>\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>1<\/b><\/font>  Every high priest is selected from among the people and is appointed to represent\nthe people in matters related to God, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>2<\/b><\/font>  He is able\nto deal gently with those who are ignorant and are going astray, since he himself is\nsubject to weakness. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>3<\/b><\/font>  This is why he has to offer sacrifices for his own sins, as well\nas for the sins of the people. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>4<\/b><\/font>  And no one takes this honour on himself, but he\nreceives it when called by God, just as Aaron was.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>5<\/b><\/font>  In the same way, Christ did not take on himself the glory of becoming a high\npriest. But God said to him, \u201cYou are my Son; today I have become your Father.\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>6<\/b><\/font>  And he says in another place, \u201cYou are a priest forever, in the order of\nMelchizedek.\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>7<\/b><\/font>  During the days of Jesus\u2019 life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with\nfervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was\nheard because of his reverent submission. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>8<\/b><\/font>  Son though he was, he learned\nobedience from what he suffered \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>9<\/b><\/font>  and, once made perfect, he became the source\nof eternal salvation for all who obey him \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>10<\/b><\/font>  and was designated by God to be high\npriest in the order of Melchizedek.\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sermon from St Andrews Church, Slip End, UK.
