Martha\nserved, while Lazarus was among those reclining at the table with him. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>3<\/b><\/font>  Then Mary\ntook about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus\u2019 feet\nand wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the\nperfume.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>4<\/b><\/font>  But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray him, objected,\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>5<\/b><\/font>  \u201cWhy wasn\u2019t this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a\nyear\u2019s wages.\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>6<\/b><\/font>  He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief;\nas keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put into it.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>7<\/b><\/font>  \u201cLeave her alone,\u201d Jesus replied. \u201cIt was intended that she should save this\nperfume for the day of my burial. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>8<\/b><\/font>  You will always have the poor among you, but\nyou will not always have me.\u201d\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sermon from St Andrews Church, Slip End, UK.
