Then the Lord said to\nme, \u201cThe time is ripe for my people Israel; I will spare them no longer. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>3<\/b><\/font> \u201cIn that day,\u201d\ndeclares the Sovereign Lord, \u201cthe songs in the temple will turn to wailing. Many,\nmany bodies\u2014flung everywhere! Silence!\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>4<\/b><\/font>\nHear this, you who trample the needy and do away with the poor of the land,\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>5<\/b><\/font> saying, \n\u201cWhen will the New Moon be over that we may sell grain, and the Sabbath\nbe ended that we may market wheat?\u201d\u2014 skimping on the measure, boosting the\nprice and cheating with dishonest scales, \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>6<\/b><\/font> buying the poor with silver and the needy\nfor a pair of sandals, selling even the sweepings with the wheat.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>7<\/b><\/font>\nThe Lord has sworn by himself, the Pride of Jacob: \u201cI will never forget anything\nthey have done. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>8<\/b><\/font> \u201cWill not the land tremble for this, and all who live in it mourn?\nThe whole land will rise like the Nile; it will be stirred up and then sink like the river of\nEgypt.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>9<\/b><\/font>\n\u201cIn that day,\u201d declares the Sovereign Lord, \u201cI will make the sun go down at noon\nand darken the earth in broad daylight. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>10<\/b><\/font> I will turn your religious festivals into\nmourning and all your singing into weeping. I will make all of you wear sackcloth and\nshave your heads. I will make that time like mourning for an only son and the end of\nit like a bitter day.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>11<\/b><\/font>\n\u201cThe days are coming,\u201d declares the Sovereign Lord, \u201cwhen I will send a famine\nthrough the land\u2014not a famine of food or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing\nthe words of the Lord. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>12<\/b><\/font> People will stagger from sea to sea and wander from north\nto east, searching for the word of the Lord, but they will not find it.\n<br><br><br>\n\n\n<font color=\"red\">Luke 10 v 38-42<\/font>\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>38<\/b><\/font>\nAs Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a\nwoman named Martha opened her home to him. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>39<\/b><\/font> She had a sister called\nMary, who sat at the Lord\u2019s feet listening to what he said. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>40<\/b><\/font> But Martha was\ndistracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked,\n\u201cLord, don\u2019t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to\nhelp me!\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>41<\/b><\/font>\n\u201cMartha, Martha,\u201d the Lord answered, \u201cyou are worried and upset about many\nthings, \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>42<\/b><\/font> but few things are needed\u2014or indeed only one.
