This sermon given our reader Julie Taylor on The second Sunday of Easter on the 16\/4\/23 entitled \u2018The Peace Of The Lord\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/embed\/160423\" webkitallowfullscreen=\"true\" mozallowfullscreen=\"true\" allowfullscreen=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"60\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>Download Mp3&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/archive.org\/download\/160423\/160423.mp3\">HERE!<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sermon starts at 4:40<\/p>\n\n\n\n<font color=\"red\">Acts 2 v 14a, 22-32 \n<br><br>\nPeter Addresses the Crowd<\/font>\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>14a<\/b><\/font> Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed\nthe crowd:\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>22<\/b><\/font> \u2018Fellow Israelites, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man\naccredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God\ndid among you through him, as you yourselves know. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>23<\/b><\/font> This man was\nhanded over to you by God\u2019s deliberate plan and foreknowledge; and\nyou, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the\ncross. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>24<\/b><\/font> But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony\nof death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on\nhim. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>25<\/b><\/font> David said about him:\n\u2018\u201cI saw the Lord always before me.\nBecause he is at my right hand,\nI will not be shaken.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>26<\/b><\/font> Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;\nmy body also will rest in hope,\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>27<\/b><\/font> because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead,\nyou will not let your holy one see decay.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>28<\/b><\/font> You have made known to me the paths of life;\nyou will fill me with joy in your presence.\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>29<\/b><\/font> \u2018Fellow Israelites, I can tell you confidently that the patriarch David\ndied and was buried, and his tomb is here to this day. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>30<\/b><\/font> But he was a\nprophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would\nplace one of his descendants on his throne. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>31<\/b><\/font> Seeing what was to come,\nhe spoke of the resurrection of the Messiah, that he was not abandoned\nto the realm of the dead, nor did his body see decay. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>32<\/b><\/font> God has raised\nthis Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of it.\n\n<br><br><br>\n\n<font color=\"red\">John 20 v 19-31 <\/font>\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>19<\/b><\/font> On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were\ntogether, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus\ncame and stood among them and said, \u2018Peace be with you!\u2019 \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>20<\/b><\/font> After he\nsaid this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were\noverjoyed when they saw the Lord.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>21<\/b><\/font> Again Jesus said, \u2018Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am\nsending you.\u2019 \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>22<\/b><\/font> And with that he breathed on them and said, \u2018Receive\nthe Holy Spirit. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>23<\/b><\/font> If you forgive anyone\u2019s sins, their sins are forgiven; if\nyou do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.\u2019\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>24<\/b><\/font> Now Thomas (also known as Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not\nwith the disciples when Jesus came. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>25<\/b><\/font> So the other disciples told him,\n\u2018We have seen the Lord!\u2019\nBut he said to them, \u2018Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put\nmy finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not\nbelieve.\u2019\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>26<\/b><\/font> A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was\nwith them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among\nthem and said, \u2018Peace be with you!\u2019 \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>27<\/b><\/font> Then he said to Thomas, \u2018Put your\nfinger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side.\nStop doubting and believe.\u2019\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>28<\/b><\/font> Thomas said to him, \u2018My Lord and my God!\u2019\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>29<\/b><\/font> Then Jesus told him, \u2018Because you have seen me, you have believed;\nblessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.\u2019\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>30<\/b><\/font> Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples,\nwhich are not recorded in this book. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>31<\/b><\/font> But these are written that you may\nbelieve that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing\nyou may have life in his name.<br><br>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sermon from St Andrews Church, Slip End, UK.
