{"id":788,"date":"2023-06-18T20:59:51","date_gmt":"2023-06-18T19:59:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/46.32.240.45\/slipend.co.uk\/sermons\/?p=788"},"modified":"2023-06-18T20:59:51","modified_gmt":"2023-06-18T19:59:51","slug":"the-workers-are-few","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/slipend.co.uk\/sermons\/2023\/06\/18\/the-workers-are-few\/","title":{"rendered":"The Workers Are Few"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Todays sermon was given by our priest in charge the Rev Nick Mwandia on the 2nd Sunday after Trinity, 18th June <\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/embed\/180623\" width=\"500\" height=\"60\" frameborder=\"0\" webkitallowfullscreen=\"true\" mozallowfullscreen=\"true\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>Download Mp3\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/archive.org\/download\/180623\/180623.mp3\">HERE!<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sermon starts at 4:02<\/p>\n\n\n\n<font color=\"red\">Matthew 9 v 35 &#8211; 10 v 23 \n<br><br>\nThe Workers Are Few<\/font>\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>35<\/b><\/font> Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues,\nproclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and\nsickness. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>36<\/b><\/font> When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they\nwere harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>37<\/b><\/font> Then he said to his\ndisciples, \u201cThe harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>38<\/b><\/font> Ask the Lord of the\nharvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"red\">Jesus Sends Out the Twelve<\/font>\n<br><br><br>\n\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>1<\/b><\/font> Jesus called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out\nimpure spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>2<\/b><\/font> These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon (who is called Peter) and\nhis brother Andrew; James son of Zebedee, and his brother John; \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>3<\/b><\/font> Philip and\nBartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus, and\nThaddaeus; \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>4<\/b><\/font> Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>5<\/b><\/font> These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: \u201cDo not go among the\nGentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>6<\/b><\/font> Go rather to the lost sheep of\nIsrael. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>7<\/b><\/font> As you go, proclaim this message: \u2018The kingdom of heaven has come\nnear.\u2019 \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>8<\/b><\/font> Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out\ndemons. Freely you have received; freely give.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>9<\/b><\/font> \u201cDo not get any gold or silver or copper to take with you in your belts\u2014 \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>10<\/b><\/font> no bag\nfor the journey or extra shirt or sandals or a staff, for the worker is worth his\nkeep. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>11<\/b><\/font> Whatever town or village you enter, search there for some worthy person\nand stay at their house until you leave. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>12<\/b><\/font> As you enter the home, give it your\ngreeting. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>13<\/b><\/font> If the home is deserving, let your peace rest on it; if it is not, let your\npeace return to you. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>14<\/b><\/font> If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, leave\nthat home or town and shake the dust off your feet. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>15<\/b><\/font> Truly I tell you, it will be more\nbearable for Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>16<\/b><\/font> \u201cI am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as\nsnakes and as innocent as doves. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>17<\/b><\/font> Be on your guard; you will be handed over to\nthe local councils and be flogged in the synagogues. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>18<\/b><\/font> On my account you will be\nbrought before governors and kings as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>19<\/b><\/font> But\nwhen they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time\nyou will be given what to say, \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>20<\/b><\/font> for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your\nFather speaking through you.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>21<\/b><\/font> \u201cBrother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; children will rebel\nagainst their parents and have them put to death. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>22<\/b><\/font> You will be hated by everyone\nbecause of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>23<\/b><\/font> When you\nare persecuted in one place, flee to another.
