{"id":805,"date":"2023-07-30T21:09:44","date_gmt":"2023-07-30T20:09:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/46.32.240.45\/slipend.co.uk\/sermons\/?p=805"},"modified":"2023-07-30T21:13:15","modified_gmt":"2023-07-30T20:13:15","slug":"parables-of-the-kingdom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/slipend.co.uk\/sermons\/2023\/07\/30\/parables-of-the-kingdom\/","title":{"rendered":"Parables Of The Kingdom"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Todays sermon was given by our reader Julie Taylor on the 5th Sunday after Trinity, 9th July 2023. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/embed\/300723\" webkitallowfullscreen=\"true\" mozallowfullscreen=\"true\" allowfullscreen=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"60\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>Download Mp3&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/archive.org\/download\/300723\/300723.mp3\">HERE!<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sermon starts at 2:35<\/p>\n\n\n\n<font color=\"red\">Matthew 13 v 31-33 &amp; 44-52\n<br><br>\nThe parables of the mustard seed and the yeast<\/font>\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>31<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;He told them another parable:&nbsp;\u2018The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field.&nbsp;\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>32<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.\u2019\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>33<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;He told them still another parable:&nbsp;\u2018The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into about thirty kilograms of flour until it worked all through the dough.<br><br><br>\n\n\n<font color=\"red\">The parables of the hidden treasure and the pearl<\/font>\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>44<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;\u2018The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>45<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;\u2018Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls.&nbsp;\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>46<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.\n<br><br><br>\n\n<font color=\"red\">The parable of the net<\/font>\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>47<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;\u2018Once again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net that was let down into the lake and caught all kinds of fish.&nbsp;\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>48<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;When it was full, the fishermen pulled it up on the shore. Then they sat down and collected the good fish in baskets, but threw the bad away.&nbsp;\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>49<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;This is how it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come and separate the wicked from the righteous&nbsp;\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>50<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;and throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>51<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;\u2018Have you understood all these things?\u2019&nbsp;Jesus asked.\n\u2018Yes,\u2019 they replied.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>52<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;He said to them,&nbsp;\u2018Therefore every teacher of the law who has become a disciple in the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house who brings out of his storeroom new treasures as well as old.\u2019\n<br><br>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Todays sermon was given by our reader Julie Taylor on the 5th Sunday after Trinity, 9th July 2023.
