The pillar of cloud also moved from in front and stood\nbehind them, \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>20<\/b><\/font> coming between the armies of Egypt and Israel. Throughout the\nnight the cloud brought darkness to the one side and light to the other side; so\nneither went near the other all night long.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>21<\/b><\/font> Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the Lord drove\nthe sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. The waters were\ndivided, \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>22<\/b><\/font> and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water\non their right and on their left.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>23<\/b><\/font> The Egyptians pursued them, and all Pharaoh\u2019s horses and chariots and\nhorsemen followed them into the sea. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>24<\/b><\/font> During the last watch of the night\nthe Lord looked down from the pillar of fire and cloud at the Egyptian army and\nthrew it into confusion. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>25<\/b><\/font> He jammed the wheels of their chariots so that they had\ndifficulty driving. And the Egyptians said, \u201cLet\u2019s get away from the Israelites!\nThe Lord is fighting for them against Egypt.\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>26<\/b><\/font> Then the Lord said to Moses, \u201cStretch out your hand over the sea so that the\nwaters may flow back over the Egyptians and their chariots and\nhorsemen.\u201d \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>27<\/b><\/font> Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and at daybreak the sea\nwent back to its place. The Egyptians were fleeing toward it, and the Lord swept\nthem into the sea. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>28<\/b><\/font> The water flowed back and covered the chariots and\nhorsemen\u2014the entire army of Pharaoh that had followed the Israelites into the\nsea. Not one of them survived.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>29<\/b><\/font> But the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their\nright and on their left. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>30<\/b><\/font> That day the Lord saved Israel from the hands of the\nEgyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians lying dead on the shore. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>31<\/b><\/font> And when the\nIsraelites saw the mighty hand of the Lord displayed against the Egyptians, the\npeople feared the Lord and put their trust in him and in Moses his servant.\n<br><br><br>\n\n\n<font color=\"red\">Matthew 18 v 21-35\n<br><br>\nThe Parable of the Unmerciful Servant<\/font>\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>21<\/b><\/font> Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, \u201cLord, how many times shall I forgive my\nbrother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>22<\/b><\/font> Jesus answered, \u201cI tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>23<\/b><\/font> \u201cTherefore, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle\naccounts with his servants. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>24<\/b><\/font> As he began the settlement, a man who owed him ten\nthousand bags of gold was brought to him. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>25<\/b><\/font> Since he was not able to pay, the\nmaster ordered that he and his wife and his children and all that he had be sold to\nrepay the debt.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>26<\/b><\/font> \u201cAt this the servant fell on his knees before him. \u2018Be patient with me,\u2019 he begged,\n\u2018and I will pay back everything.\u2019 \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>27<\/b><\/font> The servant\u2019s master took pity on him, cancelled\nthe debt and let him go.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>28<\/b><\/font> \u201cBut when that servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed\nhim a hundred silver coins. He grabbed him and began to choke him. \u2018Pay back\nwhat you owe me!\u2019 he demanded.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>29<\/b><\/font> \u201cHis fellow servant fell to his knees and begged him, \u2018Be patient with me, and I will\npay it back.\u2019\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>30<\/b><\/font> \u201cBut he refused. Instead, he went off and had the man thrown into prison until he\ncould pay the debt. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>31<\/b><\/font> When the other servants saw what had happened, they were\noutraged and went and told their master everything that had happened.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>32<\/b><\/font> \u201cThen the master called the servant in. \u2018You wicked servant,\u2019 he said, \u2018I cancelled\nall that debt of yours because you begged me to. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>33<\/b><\/font> Shouldn\u2019t you have had mercy\non your fellow servant just as I had on you?\u2019 \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>34<\/b><\/font> In anger his master handed him over\nto the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>35<\/b><\/font> \u201cThis is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your\nbrother or sister from your heart.\u201d\n<br><br>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Todays sermon was given by our priest in charge the Rev Nick Mwandia on the 15th Sunday after Trinity, 17th September 2023 entitled &#8216;Having Mercy&#8217;.
