On the\nway he asked them, \u201cWho do people say I am?\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>28<\/b><\/font> They replied, \u201cSome say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, one of\nthe prophets.\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>29<\/b><\/font> \u201cBut what about you?\u201d he asked. \u201cWho do you say I am?\u201d\nPeter answered, \u201cYou are the Messiah.\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>30<\/b><\/font> Jesus warned them not to tell anyone about him.\n<br><br><br>\n\n<font color=\"red\">Jesus Predicts His Death<\/font>\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>31<\/b><\/font> He then began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be\nrejected by the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he\nmust be killed and after three days rise again. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>32<\/b><\/font> He spoke plainly about this, and\nPeter took him aside and began to rebuke him.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>33<\/b><\/font> But when Jesus turned and looked at his disciples, he rebuked Peter. \u201cGet behind\nme, Satan!\u201d he said. \u201cYou do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely\nhuman concerns.\u201d\n<br><br><br>\n\n<font color=\"red\">The Way of the Cross<\/font>\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>34<\/b><\/font> Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: \u201cWhoever wants\nto be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>35<\/b><\/font> For\nwhoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and\nfor the gospel will save it. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>36<\/b><\/font> What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet\nforfeit their soul? \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>37<\/b><\/font> Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? \n<br><br>\n3<font color=\"blue\"><b>8<\/b><\/font> If anyone\nis ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of\nMan will be ashamed of them when he comes in his Father\u2019s glory with the holy\nangels.\u201d\n<br><br>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today\u2019s sermon was given by our priest in charge the Rev Nick Mwandia on the sixteenth Sunday after Trinity. 15th September 2024.
