His disciples came to him, \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>2<\/b><\/font> and he began to teach them.\n<br><br>\n<b>The Beatitudes<\/b><br>\nHe said:\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>3<\/b><\/font> \u201cBlessed are the poor in spirit,<br>\n     &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.<br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>4<\/b><\/font> Blessed are those who mourn,<br>\n    &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; for they will be comforted.<br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>5<\/b><\/font> Blessed are the meek,<br>\n     &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;for they will inherit the earth.<br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>6<\/b><\/font> Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,<br>\n   &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;  for they will be filled.<br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>7<\/b><\/font> Blessed are the merciful,<br>\n   &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;  for they will be shown mercy.<br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>8<\/b><\/font> Blessed are the pure in heart,<br>\n   &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;  for they will see God.<br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>9<\/b><\/font> Blessed are the peacemakers,<br>\n   &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;  for they will be called children of God.<br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>10<\/b><\/font> Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,<br>\n  &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;   for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.<br><br>\n\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>11<\/b><\/font> \u201cBlessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>12<\/b><\/font> Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.\n<br><br>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sermon from St Andrews Church, Slip End, UK.
