Given by our reader Julie Taylor on the second Sunday of the year \u2013 11\/1\/26<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/embed\/110126_202601\" width=\"500\" height=\"30\" frameborder=\"0\" webkitallowfullscreen=\"true\" mozallowfullscreen=\"true\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>Download Mp3\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/download\/110126_202601\/110126.mp3\">HERE!<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sermon starts at 2:27<\/p>\n\n\n\n<font color=\"red\">Matthew 3 v 1-3; 5-6; 11-17<\/font>\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>1<\/b><\/font> In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the wilderness of\nJudea \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>2<\/b><\/font> and saying, \u201cRepent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.\u201d \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>3<\/b><\/font> This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah:\n<br><br>\n&nbsp;&nbsp; \u201cA voice of one calling in the wilderness,\n&nbsp;&nbsp;\u2018Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.\u2019\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>5<\/b><\/font> People went out to him from Jerusalem and all Judea and the whole region of\nthe Jordan. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>6<\/b><\/font> Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan\nRiver.\n<br><br>\n[He said,] <font color=\"blue\"><b>11<\/b><\/font> \u201cI baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one\nwho is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will\nbaptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>12<\/b><\/font> His winnowing fork is in his hand,\nand he will clear his threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn and\nburning up the chaff with unquenchable fire.\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>13<\/b><\/font> Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptised by John. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>14<\/b><\/font> But John tried to deter him, saying, \u2018I need to be baptised by you, and do you\ncome to me?\u2019\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>15<\/b><\/font> Jesus replied, \u2018Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfil all\nrighteousness.\u2019 Then John consented.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>16<\/b><\/font> As soon as Jesus was baptised, he went up out of the water. At that moment\nheaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and\nalighting on him. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>17<\/b><\/font> And a voice from heaven said, \u2018This is my Son, whom I\nlove; with him I am well pleased.\u2019\n<br><br>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sermon from St Andrews Church, Slip End, UK.
