Recorded on the 18\/1\/26 at our communion service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/embed\/180126_202601\" width=\"500\" height=\"30\" frameborder=\"0\" webkitallowfullscreen=\"true\" mozallowfullscreen=\"true\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>Download Mp3\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/archive.org\/download\/180126_202601\/180126.mp3\">HERE!<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sermon starts at 4:13<\/p>\n\n\n\n<font color=\"red\">Isaiah 49 v 1-7\n<br><br>\nThe Servant of the Lord<\/font>\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>1<\/b><\/font> Listen to me, you islands;\nhear this, you distant nations:\nBefore I was born the Lord called me;\nfrom my mother\u2019s womb he has spoken my name.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>2<\/b><\/font>\nHe made my mouth like a sharpened sword,\nin the shadow of his hand he hid me;\nhe made me into a polished arrow\nand concealed me in his quiver.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>3<\/b><\/font>\nHe said to me, \u201cYou are my servant,\nIsrael, in whom I will display my splendour.\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>4<\/b><\/font>\nBut I said, \u201cI have laboured in vain;\nI have spent my strength for nothing at all.\nYet what is due me is in the Lord\u2019s hand,\nand my reward is with my God.\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>5<\/b><\/font>\nAnd now the Lord says\u2014\nhe who formed me in the womb to be his servant\nto bring Jacob back to him\nand gather Israel to himself,\nfor I am honoured in the eyes of the Lord\nand my God has been my strength\u2014\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>6<\/b><\/font>\nhe says:\n\u201cIt is too small a thing for you to be my servant\nto restore the tribes of Jacob\nand bring back those of Israel I have kept.\nI will also make you a light for the Gentiles,\nthat my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>7<\/b><\/font>\nThis is what the Lord says\u2014\nthe Redeemer and Holy One of Israel\u2014\nto him who was despised and abhorred by the nation,\nto the servant of rulers:\n\u201cKings will see you and stand up,\nprinces will see and bow down,\nbecause of the Lord, who is faithful,\nthe Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.\u201d\n<br><br><br>\n\n\n<font color=\"red\">John 1 v 29-42<\/font>\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>29<\/b><\/font>\nThe next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, \u201cLook, the\nLamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>30<\/b><\/font> This is the one I\nmeant when I said, \u2018A man who comes after me has surpassed me\nbecause he was before me.\u2019 \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>31<\/b><\/font> I myself did not know him, but the reason\nI came baptizing with water was that he might be revealed to Israel.\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>32<\/b><\/font>\nThen John gave this testimony: \u201cI saw the Spirit come down from\nheaven as a dove and remain on him. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>33<\/b><\/font> And I myself did not know him,\nbut the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, \u2018The man on\nwhom you see the Spirit come down and remain is the one who will\nbaptize with the Holy Spirit.\u2019 \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>34<\/b><\/font> I have seen and I testify that this is God\u2019s\nChosen One.\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>35<\/b><\/font>\nThe next day John was there again with two of his disciples. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>36<\/b><\/font> When\nhe saw Jesus passing by, he said, \u201cLook, the Lamb of God!\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>37<\/b><\/font>\nWhen the two disciples heard him say this, they followed\nJesus. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>38<\/b><\/font> Turning around, Jesus saw them following and asked, \u201cWhat do\nyou want?\u201d\nThey said, \u201cRabbi\u201d (which means \u201cTeacher\u201d), \u201cwhere are you staying?\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>39<\/b><\/font>\n\u201cCome,\u201d he replied, \u201cand you will see.\u201d\nSo they went and saw where he was staying, and they spent that day\nwith him. It was about four in the afternoon.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>40<\/b><\/font>\nAndrew, Simon Peter\u2019s brother, was one of the two who heard what\nJohn had said and who had followed Jesus. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>41<\/b><\/font> The first thing Andrew did\nwas to find his brother Simon and tell him, \u201cWe have found the Messiah\u201d\n(that is, the Christ). \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>42<\/b><\/font> And he brought him to Jesus.\n<br><br>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sermon from St Andrews Church, Slip End, UK.
