When she saw that he was a fine child, she hid him for three months. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>3<\/b><\/font> But when she could hide him no longer, she got a papyrus basket for him and coated it with tar and pitch. Then she placed the child in it and put it among the reeds along the bank of the Nile. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>4<\/b><\/font> His sister stood at a distance to see what would happen to him.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>5<\/b><\/font> Then Pharaoh\u2019s daughter went down to the Nile to bathe, and her attendants were walking along the riverbank. She saw the basket among the reeds and sent her female slave to get it. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>6<\/b><\/font> She opened it and saw the baby. He was crying, and she felt sorry for him. \u201cThis is one of the Hebrew babies,\u201d she said.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>7<\/b><\/font> Then his sister asked Pharaoh\u2019s daughter, \u201cShall I go and get one of the Hebrew women to nurse the baby for you?\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>8<\/b><\/font> \u201cYes, go,\u201d she answered. So the girl went and got the baby\u2019s mother. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>9<\/b><\/font> Pharaoh\u2019s daughter said to her, \u201cTake this baby and nurse him for me, and I will pay you.\u201d So the woman took the baby and nursed him. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>10<\/b><\/font> When the child grew older, she took him to Pharaoh\u2019s daughter and he became her son. She named him Moses, saying, \u201cI drew him out of the water.\u201d\n\n<br><br><br>\n\n<font color=\"red\">John 19 v 25-27<\/font>\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>25<\/b><\/font> Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother\u2019s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>26<\/b><\/font> When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, \u201cWoman, here is your son,\u201d \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>27<\/b><\/font> and to the disciple, \u201cHere is your mother.\u201d From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.\n<br><br>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sermon from St Andrews Church, Slip End, UK.
