Sermon given by our reader Julie Taylor on the 31\/10\/21 for Shoebox Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/embed\/311021\" webkitallowfullscreen=\"true\" mozallowfullscreen=\"true\" allowfullscreen=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"30\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>Sermon starts at 2:00<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Download Mp3&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/archive.org\/download\/311021\/311021.mp3\">HERE!<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<font color=\"red\">Mark 12: 28-34<\/font>\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>28<\/b><\/font> Then one of the scribes [an expert in Mosaic Law] came up and listened to \nthem arguing [with one another], and noticing that Jesus answered them well, \nasked him, \u201cWhich commandment is first and most important of all?\u201d \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>29<\/b><\/font> Jesus \nanswered, \u201cThe first and most important one is: \u2018Hear, O Israel, the Lord our \nGod is one Lord; \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>30<\/b><\/font> and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, \nand with all your soul (life), and with all your mind (thought, \nunderstanding), and with all your strength.\u2019 \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>31<\/b><\/font> This is the second: \u2018You \nshall [unselfishly] love your neighbour as yourself.\u2019 There is no other \ncommandment greater than these.\u201d \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>32<\/b><\/font> The scribe said to him, \u201cAdmirably \nanswered, Teacher; You truthfully stated that he is One, and there is no other \nbut him; \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>33<\/b><\/font> and to love him with all the heart and with all the understanding and \nwith all the strength, and to [unselfishly] love one\u2019s neighbour as oneself, is \nmuch more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.\u201d \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>34<\/b><\/font> When Jesus saw that he \nanswered thoughtfully and intelligently, He said to him, \u201cYou are not far from \nthe kingdom of God.\u201d And after that, no one would dare to ask him any more \nquestions.\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sermon from St Andrews Church, Slip End, UK.
