Even the dogs came and licked his sores.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>22<\/b><\/font> \u2018The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham\u2019s side. The rich man also died and was buried.&nbsp;\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>23<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side.&nbsp;\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>24<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;So he called to him, \u201cFather Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>25<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;\u2018But Abraham replied, \u201cSon, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony.&nbsp;\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>26<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>27<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;\u2018He answered, \u201cThen I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family,&nbsp;\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>28<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>29<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;\u2018Abraham replied, \u201cThey have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>30<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;\u2018\u201cNo, father Abraham,\u201d he said, \u201cbut if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>31<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;\u2018He said to him, \u201cIf they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.\u201d\u2019\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sermon from St Andrews Church, Slip End, UK.
