Sermon given our reader Julie Taylor on The first Sunday of Advent at our Christingle service on the 28\/11\/22. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/embed\/281122\" width=\"500\" height=\"30\" frameborder=\"0\" webkitallowfullscreen=\"true\" mozallowfullscreen=\"true\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>Download Mp3\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/archive.org\/download\/281122\/281122.mp3\">HERE!<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sermon starts at 2:43<\/p>\n\n\n\n<font color=\"red\">Isaiah 2 v 1-5 <\/font>\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>1<\/b><\/font> This is what Isaiah son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem:\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>2<\/b><\/font>\u00a0In the last days\nthe mountain of the\u00a0Lord\u2019s temple will be established\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0as the highest of the mountains;\nit will be exalted above the hills,\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and all nations will stream to it.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>3<\/b><\/font>\u00a0Many peoples will come and say,\n\u2018Come, let us go up to the mountain of the\u00a0Lord,\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0to the temple of the God of Jacob.\nHe will teach us his ways,\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0so that we may walk in his paths.\u2019\nThe law will go out from Zion,\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0the word of the\u00a0Lord\u00a0from Jerusalem.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>4<\/b><\/font>\u00a0He will judge between the nations\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and will settle disputes for many peoples.\nThey will beat their swords into ploughshares\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and their spears into pruning hooks.\nNation will not take up sword against nation,\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0nor will they train for war any more.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>5<\/b><\/font>\u00a0Come, descendants of Jacob,\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0let us walk in the light of the\u00a0Lord.\n\n<br><br><br>\n<font color=\"red\">Matthew 24 v 36-44<\/font>\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>36<\/b><\/font>\u00a0\u2018But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,\u00a0but only the Father.\u00a0\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>37<\/b><\/font>\u00a0As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.\u00a0\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>38<\/b><\/font>\u00a0For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark;\u00a0\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>39<\/b><\/font>\u00a0and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.\u00a0\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>40<\/b><\/font>\u00a0Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left.\u00a0\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>41<\/b><\/font>\u00a0Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>42<\/b><\/font>\u00a0\u2018Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.\u00a0\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>43<\/b><\/font>\u00a0But understand this: if the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into.\u00a0\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>44<\/b><\/font>\u00a0So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sermon from St Andrews Church, Slip End, UK.
