{"id":849,"date":"2023-10-30T09:14:23","date_gmt":"2023-10-30T09:14:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/46.32.240.45\/slipend.co.uk\/sermons\/?p=849"},"modified":"2023-10-30T09:14:23","modified_gmt":"2023-10-30T09:14:23","slug":"shoebox-sunday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/slipend.co.uk\/sermons\/2023\/10\/30\/shoebox-sunday\/","title":{"rendered":"Shoebox Sunday"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Todays sermon was given by our reader Julie Taylor at our shoebox service on Sunday 30th October 2023. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/embed\/291023_202310\" width=\"500\" height=\"60\" frameborder=\"0\" webkitallowfullscreen=\"true\" mozallowfullscreen=\"true\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>Download Mp3\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/archive.org\/download\/291023_202310\/291023.mp3\">HERE!<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sermon starts at 2:03<\/p>\n\n\n\n<font color=\"red\">Matthew 22 v 34-46\n<br><br>\nThe Greatest Commandment<\/font>\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>34<\/b><\/font> Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got\ntogether. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>35<\/b><\/font> One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this\nquestion: \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>36<\/b><\/font> \u2018Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?\u2019\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>37<\/b><\/font> Jesus replied: \u2018\u201cLove the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your\nsoul and with all your mind.\u201d \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>38<\/b><\/font> This is the first and greatest\ncommandment. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>39<\/b><\/font> And the second is like it: \u201cLove your neighbour as\nyourself.\u201d \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>40<\/b><\/font> All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.\u2019\n<br><br><br>\n\n<font color=\"red\">Whose Son is the Messiah?<\/font>\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>41<\/b><\/font> While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>42<\/b><\/font> \u2018What do\nyou think about the Messiah? Whose son is he?\u2019\n\u2018The son of David,\u2019 they replied.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>43<\/b><\/font> He said to them, \u2018How is it then that David, speaking by the Spirit, calls him\n\u201cLord\u201d? For he says,\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>44<\/b><\/font> \u2018\u201cThe Lord said to my Lord:\n\u2018Sit at my right hand\nuntil I put your enemies\nunder your feet.\u2019\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>45<\/b><\/font> If then David calls him \u201cLord\u201d, how can he be his son?\u2019 \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>46<\/b><\/font> No one could say a\nword in reply, and from that day on no one dared to ask him any more\nquestions.<br><br>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Todays sermon was given by our reader Julie Taylor at our shoebox service on Sunday 30th October 2023.
