The Lord has\nprepared a sacrifice; he has consecrated those he has invited.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>12<\/b><\/font> At that time I will search Jerusalem with lamps and punish those who are\ncomplacent, who are like wine left on its dregs, who think, \u2018The Lord will do nothing,\neither good or bad.\u2019 \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>13<\/b><\/font> Their wealth will be plundered, their houses demolished.\nThough they build houses, they will not live in them; though they plant vineyards,\nthey will not drink the wine.\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>14<\/b><\/font> The great day of the Lord is near\u2014near and coming quickly. The cry on the day of\nthe Lord is bitter; the Mighty Warrior shouts his battle cry. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>15<\/b><\/font> That day will be a day of\nwrath\u2014a day of distress and anguish, a day of trouble and ruin, a day of\ndarkness and gloom, a day of clouds and blackness\u2014\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>16<\/b><\/font> a day of trumpet and battle\ncry against the fortified cities and against the corner towers.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>17<\/b><\/font> \u201cI will bring such distress on all people that they will grope about like those who\nare blind, because they have sinned against the Lord. Their blood will be poured\nout like dust and their entrails like dung. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>18<\/b><\/font> Neither their silver nor their gold will be\nable to save them on the day of the Lord\u2019s wrath.\u201d\nIn the fire of his jealousy the whole earth will be consumed, for he will make a\nsudden end of all who live on the earth.\n\n<br><br><br>\n\n<font color=\"red\">Second Reading: Matthew 25 v 14-30 \n<br><br>\nThe Parable of the Bags Of Gold<\/font>\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>14<\/b><\/font> \u201cAgain, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and\nentrusted his wealth to them. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>15<\/b><\/font> To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two\nbags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability. Then he went on his\njourney. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>16<\/b><\/font> The man who had received five bags of gold went at once and put his\nmoney to work and gained five bags more. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>17<\/b><\/font> So also, the one with two bags of gold\ngained two more. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>18<\/b><\/font> But the man who had received one bag went off, dug a hole in\nthe ground and hid his master\u2019s money.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>19<\/b><\/font> \u201cAfter a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with\nthem. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>20<\/b><\/font> The man who had received five bags of gold brought the other five. \u2018Master,\u2019\nhe said, \u2018you entrusted me with five bags of gold. See, I have gained five more.\u2019\n<br><br>\n\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>21<\/b><\/font> \u201cHis master replied, \u2018Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful\nwith a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your\nmaster\u2019s happiness!\u2019\n<br><br>\n\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>22<\/b><\/font> \u201cThe man with two bags of gold also came. \u2018Master,\u2019 he said, \u2018you entrusted me\nwith two bags of gold; see, I have gained two more.\u2019\n<br><br>\n\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>23<\/b><\/font> \u201cHis master replied, \u2018Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful\nwith a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your\nmaster\u2019s happiness!\u2019\n\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>24<\/b><\/font> \u201cThen the man who had received one bag of gold came. \u2018Master,\u2019 he said, \u2018I knew\nthat you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where\nyou have not scattered seed. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>25<\/b><\/font> So I was afraid and went out and hid your gold in the\nground. See, here is what belongs to you.\u2019\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>26<\/b><\/font> \u201cHis master replied, \u2018You wicked, lazy servant! So, you knew that I harvest where I\nhave not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed? \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>27<\/b><\/font> Well then, you should\nhave put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned, I would\nhave received it back with interest.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>28<\/b><\/font> \u201c\u2018So take the bag of gold from him and give it to the one who has ten bags. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>29<\/b><\/font> For\nwhoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance.
