{"id":887,"date":"2024-02-25T15:58:51","date_gmt":"2024-02-25T15:58:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/slipend.co.uk\/sermons\/?p=887"},"modified":"2024-02-25T16:01:47","modified_gmt":"2024-02-25T16:01:47","slug":"the-way-to-the-cross","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/slipend.co.uk\/sermons\/2024\/02\/25\/the-way-to-the-cross\/","title":{"rendered":"The Way To The Cross"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Todays sermon was given by our reader Julie Taylor on the second Sunday of Lent, with the sermon entitled \u2018The Way To The Cross\u2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/embed\/250224\" width=\"500\" height=\"60\" frameborder=\"0\" webkitallowfullscreen=\"true\" mozallowfullscreen=\"true\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>Download Mp3&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/archive.org\/download\/250224\/250224.mp3\">HERE!<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sermon starts at 2:20<\/p>\n\n\n\n<font color=\"red\">Mark 8 v 31 to end \n<br><br>\nThe Way of the Cross<\/font>\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>31<\/b><\/font> He then began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things\nand be rejected by the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law,\nand that he must be killed and after three days rise again. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>32<\/b><\/font> He spoke plainly\nabout this, and Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>33<\/b><\/font> But when Jesus turned and looked at his disciples, he rebuked Peter. \u2018Get\nbehind me, Satan!\u2019 he said. \u2018You do not have in mind the concerns of God, but\nmerely human concerns.\u2019\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>34<\/b><\/font> Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: \u2018Whoever\nwants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and\nfollow me. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>35<\/b><\/font> For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever\nloses their life for me and for the gospel will save it. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>36<\/b><\/font> What good is it for\nsomeone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>37<\/b><\/font> Or what can anyone\ngive in exchange for their soul? \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>38<\/b><\/font> If anyone is ashamed of me and my words\nin this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of\nthem when he comes in his Father\u2019s glory with the holy angels.\u2019<br><br>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Todays sermon was given by our reader Julie Taylor on the second Sunday of Lent, with the sermon entitled \u2018The Way To The Cross\u2019.
