{"id":980,"date":"2024-09-29T15:34:19","date_gmt":"2024-09-29T14:34:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/slipend.co.uk\/sermons\/?p=980"},"modified":"2024-10-18T13:41:08","modified_gmt":"2024-10-18T12:41:08","slug":"stumbling-blocks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/slipend.co.uk\/sermons\/2024\/09\/29\/stumbling-blocks\/","title":{"rendered":"Stumbling Blocks"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Today\u2019s sermon was given by our priest in charge the Rev Nick Mwandia on the eighteenth Sunday after Trinity. 29th September 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"http:\/\/slipend.co.uk\/sermons\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/290924.mp3\"><\/audio><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Download Mp3\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/slipend.co.uk\/sermons\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/290924.mp3\">HERE!<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sermon starts at 2:20<\/p>\n\n\n\n<font color=\"red\">Mark 9 v 38-50<\/font>\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>38<\/b><\/font>\n \u2018Teacher,\u2019 said John, \u2018we saw someone driving out demons in your name and we\ntold him to stop, because he was not one of us.\u2019\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>39<\/b><\/font>\n \u2018Do not stop him,\u2019 Jesus said. \u2018For no one who does a miracle in my name can in\nthe next moment say anything bad about me, \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>40<\/b><\/font> for whoever is not against us is for\nus. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>41<\/b><\/font> Truly I tell you, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you\nbelong to the Messiah will certainly not lose their reward.\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>42<\/b><\/font>\n \u2018If anyone causes one of these little ones \u2013 those who believe in me \u2013 to stumble,\nit would be better for them if a large millstone were hung round their neck and they\nwere thrown into the sea. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>43<\/b><\/font> If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better\nfor you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never\ngoes out. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>45<\/b><\/font> And if your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to\nenter life crippled than to have two feet and be thrown into hell. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>47<\/b><\/font> And if your eye\ncauses you to stumble, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God\nwith one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell, \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>48<\/b><\/font> where\n\u2018\u201cthe worms that eat them do not die, and the fire is not quenched.\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>49<\/b><\/font>\n Everyone will be salted with fire.\n <br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>50<\/b><\/font>\n \u2018Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can you make it salty again?
