{"id":982,"date":"2024-10-06T14:34:28","date_gmt":"2024-10-06T13:34:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/slipend.co.uk\/sermons\/?p=982"},"modified":"2024-10-18T13:38:15","modified_gmt":"2024-10-18T12:38:15","slug":"jesus-on-marriage-and-divorce","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/slipend.co.uk\/sermons\/2024\/10\/06\/jesus-on-marriage-and-divorce\/","title":{"rendered":"Jesus on Marriage and Divorce"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Today\u2019s sermon was given by our priest in charge the Rev Nick Mwandia on the nineteenth Sunday after Trinity. 6th October 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"http:\/\/slipend.co.uk\/sermons\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/061024.mp3\"><\/audio><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Download Mp3\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/slipend.co.uk\/sermons\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/061024.mp3\">HERE!<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sermon starts at 2:28<\/p>\n\n\n\n<font color=\"red\">Reading: Mark 10 v 1-16\t<\/font>\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>1<\/b><\/font> Jesus then left that place and went into the region of Judea and across the Jordan.&nbsp;Again crowds of people came to him, and as was his custom, he taught them. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>2<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;Some Pharisees&nbsp;came and tested him by asking, \u201cIs it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?\u201d \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>3<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;\u201cWhat did Moses command you?\u201d&nbsp;he replied. \n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>4<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;They said, \u201cMoses permitted a man to write a certificate of divorce and send her away.\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>5<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;\u201cIt was because your hearts were hard&nbsp;that Moses wrote you this law,\u201d&nbsp;Jesus replied.&nbsp;\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>6<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;\u201cBut at the beginning of creation God \u2018made them male and female.\u2019&nbsp;\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>7<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;\u2018For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife,&nbsp;\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>8<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;and the two will become one flesh.\u2019&nbsp;So they are no longer two, but one flesh.&nbsp;\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>9<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>10<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;When they were in the house again, the disciples asked Jesus about this.&nbsp;\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>1<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;He answered,&nbsp;\u201cAnyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her.&nbsp;\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>12<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;And if she divorces her husband and marries another man, she commits adultery.\u201d\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>13<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them.&nbsp;\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>14<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them,&nbsp;\u201cLet the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.&nbsp;\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>15<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.\u201d&nbsp;\n<br><br>\n<font color=\"blue\"><b>16<\/b><\/font>&nbsp;And he took the children in his arms,&nbsp;placed his hands on them and blessed them. <br><br>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today\u2019s sermon was given by our priest in charge the Rev Nick Mwandia on the nineteenth Sunday after Trinity. 6th October 2024.
