Getting married at St Andrew’s Church
If at all possible we would love to be able to conduct your wedding ceremony at St. Andrew’s. Who can get married at an Anglican Church is governed by Law, however the Law has recently changed to enable more people to get married at a church with which they have family connections.You can get married at St. Andrew’s if…
one of you:
- Lives in the parish,
- Is on the church’s electoral roll
(If you do not live in the Parish you can be placed on the electoral role, if you have been baptised or get baptised, and you attend at least once a month for a period of six months. We are a very friendly, welcoming church and most people really enjoy their time with us.) - has at any time lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months
- has regularly gone to normal church services in the parish church for a period of at least 6 months
- was baptised in the parish
- was prepared for confirmation in the parish
- has lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months
- has at any time regularly gone to normal church services in the parish church for a period of at least 6 months
- was married in the parish
If none of the above apply, you still can get married in St Andrew’s if you obtain a Special Licence. (To do this you will still have to show some real connection with the Parish or church.)

What we can offer you:
We will guide you through all the legal requirements and help you with practical arrangements. The vicar will meet with you as a couple to go through your service with you, and there will be a rehearsal in the church during the week before the wedding.
